DZOFILM Arles Zoom 65-180mm T2.6 (Metric, PL) – Cinema Lens
- Sku : DZOARLZOOM65180PLM
Key features
- Full-frame fiction filming with long focal lengths and a constant T2.6 aperture across the entire range.
- Close-up shot with long focus at 120 or 180 mm, thanks to the almost zero breathing on these focal lengths.
- Shoulder or gimbal configuration alternating with the 25-75 mm, with similar size and balance.
- Captured in controlled backlighting, with limited loss of contrast and defined aperture starbursts.
- Workflow for a series or advertisement requiring color continuity with the Arles Prime and the 25-75mm zoom lens.
The DZOFILM Arles Zoom 65-180mm T2.6 is a full-frame cinema/television zoom lens, designed to cover an image circle of 43.2mm with a constant T2.6 aperture.
It covers a 2.8x zoom ratio and focuses down to 0.89 m. Its optical formula comprises 20 elements in 8 groups, with ED and HRI glass. Tested wide open on an 8,000-line test chart, it cleanly separates up to 56 lp at the center, with sustained center resolution from 120 to 180 mm and consistent edge definition across the tested focal lengths.
Focus breathing remains controlled at 65mm and becomes almost nonexistent at 120mm and 180mm. The zoom is parfocal: the focus point remains constant throughout the focal length change. Distortion transitions from a barrel shape at 65mm to a smooth pincushion shape at 120mm and 180mm, a predictable behavior for framing and post-production correction.
The DZOFILM Arles Zoom 65-180mm T2.6 uses the same mechanics as the 25-75mm: 95mm front diameter, M86 filter thread, 0.8 gears, 270° focus throw, 100° zoom throw, and a 16-blade diaphragm with an 82° throw. It weighs 1782g and measures 190mm in PL mode, or 198mm in EF mode.
